Welcome to Chappy Chirps!

Emma Zelus is the photographer behind Chappy Chirps. She photographs wildlife, mostly birds, for the details: posture, color, odd expressions, and the split-second behavior that makes a species feel real. She’ll set out early, duck into the brush, and stare into a tree for an embarrassingly long time if that’s what it takes. Her work results from equal parts patience, curiosity, and genuine awe for what she finds when she slows down and pays attention.
